545.23 POSSESSION OF PROPERTY WITH IDENTIFICATION MARKS REMOVED.
   (a)   No person shall possess, receive, retain, or dispose of any property of another knowing or having reasonable cause to believe the serial number, nameplate or other identification mark of the property was removed, altered or destroyed.
   (b)   It is an affirmative defense to a charge under this section that the removal, alteration or destruction of the property’s identification mark was:
      (1)   Accidental; or
      (2)   Intentionally done for a legitimate purpose; or
      (3)   Done without the knowledge of the person possessing, receiving, retaining or disposing of the property.
   
   (c)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
