(a) There is hereby created the position of Deputy Fire Chief in the Division of Fire and Emergency Rescue Services.
(b) There shall only be two Deputy Fire Chiefs in the Division.
(c) The persons occupying the position of Deputy Fire Chief shall fulfill such duties as directed by the Fire Chief and have the powers provided by duly enacted City ordinances. In addition, such persons shall perform such duties as directed by the Mayor in the extended absence or disability of the Fire Chief, or until a superior position is created.
(d) Pursuant to Section 13.02 of the City Charter, the position of Deputy Fire Chief is hereby declared to be in the classified service, i.e., subject to the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission.
