§ 34.11 TERMS OF OFFICE.
   The Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of Police shall serve for a term of one year until their successors are appointed and qualified; provided that their terms of office shall expire on the last day of April following their appointments, and may be removed in the manner provided for the removal of officers; provided that if any member of the Police Department having a rank therein shall be appointed Chief of Police or Assistant Chief of Police, upon the expiration of his or her term or the termination of his or her services for any reason, he or she shall resume his or her rank held before his or her appointment as Chief of Police or Assistant Chief of Police.
