The purpose of this subchapter is to provide alternative standards to the model codes, pursuant to Cal. Health & Safety Code § 17958.11, that will allow for the conversion of buildings or portions thereof to joint living and working quarters (R/B2) for artists, artisans and similarly situated individuals, and to assure that the safety of individuals and property are protected by the addition of certain safety features, and restricting the types of work activities performed within the units.
