The Chief of Police and the Chief of the Fire Department shall have exclusive right to suspend without pay any of the deputies, officers, or employees in their respective Departments and under their management and control for a period of up to fifteen days. An employee who is suspended for a period longer than five days shall have the right to appeal the case to the Mayor/Ex-Officio Safety Director. Subsequent appeals shall be made to the Civil Service Commission or through the procedure contained in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The appeal procedure exercised shall be exclusive.
