1577.01 SMOKE DETECTOR AND BATTERY PROGRAM.
   (a)   The Fire Chief shall establish and conduct a program whereby each resident of a single-family or two-family dwelling, who verifies to the satisfaction of the Fire Chief proof of residency within the City, shall be provided with such smoke detectors and/or required batteries as required for compliance with this chapter and Section 1755.27 of the Building and Housing Code.
   (b)   The Fire Chief shall require any resident who receives smoke detector(s) and/or batteries to sign an agreement that includes the following provision and such other provisions as the Fire Chief deems necessary: Those residents receiving smoke detectors and/or batteries pursuant to subsection (a) hereof, shall sign an agreement whereby they agree to install or allow the City to install the alarm(s) in their residence in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. The signed agreement will further allow a representative from the Fire Department to inspect the installation of all alarms.
