No taxicab shall receive or discharge passengers at any place other than at the curb on the right-hand side of the street, except on one-way streets, and no operator of any taxicab shall permit passengers to enter or leave such taxicab except through the side thereof nearest the curb, on the right-hand side thereof. When a taxicab stops at the intersection of streets to receive or let off passengers, such taxicab shall be stopped on the near side of the first crosswalk.
