Each applicant, prior to the receipt of a permit, shall provide the Borough with an acceptable certificate of insurance indicating that the applicant is insured against claims for damage which may arise from or out of the performance of the work, whether such performance is by the applicant, his or her subcontractor or anyone directly or indirectly employed by him or her. Such insurance shall cover collapse, explosive hazards and underground work by equipment on the street, and shall include protection against liability arising from completed operations. In order to protect the Borough and the permittee, the permittee shall provide a certificate of liability insurance in the amount of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for each occurrence or five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) aggregate for bodily injury, and two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) for each occurrence and two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) aggregate for property damage. Public utilities and authorities may submit annually such evidence of insurance coverage in lieu of individual submissions for each permit.
