The Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Captains of the various fire companies comprising the Department shall be elected annually by the members of the respective companies, subject to approval by Council. The names of the individuals selected by the Department for those offices shall be submitted to Council for approval or disapproval at the regular meeting in April of each year, and those officers, if approved by Council, shall serve for a term of one year.
