(A) Authority to seal equipment out of service. The Inspector shall have the authority to disconnect or cause the disconnection of any or all utilities (gas, water or electric) to any equipment covered by this chapter for the following reasons:
(1) For failure to obtain a permit to install the equipment;
(2) When in the opinion of the Inspector any such equipment shall be considered to be unsafe for operation;
(3) For willful failure to comply with the notice issued by the Building Department for the correction of violations; or
(4) For willful failure to comply with this chapter.
(B) Unlawful to remove seal. Any equipment sealed out of service by the Building Department shall be conspicuously labeled with a condemnation tag indicating the reason for the closing down, and any defacing or removal of the condemnation tag or any tampering with or removal of the seal without the approval of the Building Department shall constitute a violation of this chapter.
(C) Unlawful to use sealed equipment. It shall be unlawful for any person having control or management of any apparatus covered by this chapter that is sealed out of service to use or permit to be used such apparatus or part thereof until causes for the condemnation shall have been eliminated and the equipment or part in question has been put in a safe condition and approved by the Inspector.
