8-4-6: DANGEROUS SIGNS:
If the department of engineering and community development shall find that any sign regulated herein is unsafe or insecure or has been constructed or erected in violation of the provisions of this chapter, its authorized representative shall give written notice to the permittee thereof. If the permittee fails to remove, relocate or alter the sign so as to comply with the standard herein set forth within ten (10) days after such notice, such sign may be removed by the department of engineering and community development at the expense of the permittee or owner of the property upon which it is located. The department of engineering and community development shall refuse to issue a permit to any permittee or owner who refuses to pay costs so assessed.
The director of engineering and community development or his designated agent may cause any sign improperly placed on public property or which is an immediate peril or endangerment to persons or property to be removed immediately and without notice.
