A. Office Established; Appointment And Term: There is hereby established the position of director of community development. The director of community development shall be appointed by the village manager and shall serve at his discretion. He shall have control and supervision over all offices and employees assigned to the department of community development, subject to the general direction of the village manager.
Whenever the term building official, building commissioner, village engineer or director of engineering and community development is used in any portion of this code or of any other regulatory codes adopted by reference by the village, said term shall mean the director of community development.
B. Duties: The director of community development shall be responsible for:
1. The enforcement of all ordinances, codes and regulations of the village relating to the construction, repair or alteration of buildings and structures.
2. The enforcement of all ordinances, codes and regulations of the village relating to the construction, extension or alteration of public and private utility improvements.
3. All inspections, to ensure compliance with building, zoning, land use, subdivision and municipal code regulations.
4. The maintenance of land use and zoning maps and plats, utility atlases, as built construction drawings and engineering drawings related to public and private improvements.
5. The preparation of design plans and specifications for the construction of village improvement projects.
6. Performing such other duties as may be required by the village manager including providing assistance and advice to boards, commissions and related agencies of the village.
