6-3-10: MOTORIZED SKATEBOARDS/MOTORIZED SCOOTERS:
   A.   Definition: A "motorized skateboard and/or motorized scooter" is defined as any electric or gas driven wheeled scooter, motor driven cycle or other similar motor driven vehicle for which the state of Illinois does not issue a title document and does not issue license plates or registration documents.
   B.   Public Policy: It is hereby determined that the operation and/or use of motorized skateboards and/or motorized scooters within the village can be detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the village. Therefore, the prohibited use or operation of a motorized skateboard and/or motorized scooter is essential and in the best interest of the village.
   C.   Use Of Motorized Skateboards And/Or Motorized Scooters Prohibited: No person shall operate a motor driven skateboard or scooter as defined herein upon any public street, sidewalk, parking lot, bike path, park, or on any other public property, provided that the following uses are exempt from the provisions of this section:
      1.   Motorized wheelchairs designed to provide mobility for the handicapped or elderly.
      2.   Operation of a motorized skateboard and/or motorized scooter when being used as part of a village sanctioned parade or similar event.
   D.   Penalty: Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than twenty five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which the violation occurs or continues to exist.
