5-1-9: HOURS OF DUTY:
The Fire Chief shall arrange the working hours of the members of the Department so that no officer or employee shall be required to be on duty more than twenty four (24) hours in any consecutive forty eight (48) hour period; providing, however, that the Fire Chief, acting in his official capacity, may, in case of serious conflagration, riot or other emergency, require such members of the Department to be on duty or to continue on duty during the period of such emergency.
