The Board shall have the authority to conduct hearings on charges filed against a sworn officer of the Fire or Police Department or hear appeals of suspensions issued by the Chief of each Department in the manner required by law and shall have the authority to suspend an officer for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days or discharge an officer from either Department as provided by law.
