§ 51.065 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   APPROVING AUTHORITY. The Public Works Director.
   B.O.D. (denoting BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND). The quantity of oxygen utilized in the biochemical oxidation of organic matter under standard laboratory procedure in five days at 20°C, expressed in milligrams per liter by weight.
   COLOR. The true color due to the substances in solution, expressed in milligrams per liter.
   COOLING WATER. The water discharged from any system of condensation, air conditioning, cooling, refrigeration or other water used to reduce temperature.
   DOMESTIC SEWAGE. Liquid waste from bathrooms, toilet rooms, kitchens and home laundries.
   INDUSTRIAL WASTES. The liquid wastes, other than domestic sewage, resulting from processes or operations employed in industrial and commercial establishments.
   pH. The reciprocal of the logarithm of the weight of hydrogen ions in grams per liter of solution. A STABILIZED PH will be considered as a pH which does not change beyond the specified limits when the waste is subjected to aeration.
   PROPERLY SHREDDED GARBAGE. The wastes from the preparation, cooking and dispensing of food that have been shredded to the degree that all particles will be carried freely under the flow conditions normally prevailing in public sewers, with no particle greater than one-half inch in any dimension.
   RECEIVING STREAM. The body of water, stream or water course receiving the discharge waters from the sewage treatment plant or formed by the waters discharged from the sewage treatment plant.
   SANITARY SEWER. A sewer intended to receive domestic sewage and industrial waste, except that of the type expressly prohibited by this subchapter, without the admixture of surface water and storm water.
   STORM SEWER or STORM DRAIN. A sewer which carries storm and surface waters and drainage, but excludes sewage and industrial wastes.
   SUSPENDED SOLIDS. Solids that either float on the surface of or are in suspension in water, sewage or other liquids and which are removable by laboratory filtering.
   UNPOLLUTED PROCESS WATER. Any water or waste containing no free or emulsified grease or oil, acid or alkali, phenols or other substances imparting taste and odor in receiving waters, toxic and poisonous substances in suspension, colloidal state or solution and noxious or odorous gases or other polluting materials.
