(a) Fire hydrants with a minimum of two and one-half inch outlets, or as required by the City Manager, and one large pumping connection shall be provided by the subdivider in all subdivisions with adequate public water supplies which are sufficient in pressure supply to meet fire protection needs adequately, provided the public water district permits the specified connections of fire hydrants to its lines. The hydrants should be located between property lines and curbs and all outlets facing or parallel to the street. Hydrants shall be placed at the corners of all blocks and at mid-block for blocks exceeding 800 feet in length. Hydrants also shall be required at the entrance and end of all cul-de-sacs exceeding 400 feet in length.
(b) The type of hydrant and control valves and the location of the hydrant shall be approved by the Fire Chief or person responsible for the fire protection for the political subdivision in which the plat is located. The minimum size of any water line serving any hydrant shall not be less than six inches in diameter and should be circulating water lines. The size and location of water lines should be approved by the City Manager, the Fire Chief or person responsible for the fire protection, and the Ohio Inspection Bureau for commercial and industrial subdivisions.
