246.07   HOLIDAYS.
   (a)   The following holidays shall be observed by full-time regular employees and fire department employees. The following holidays shall be observed by part-time dispatch and part-time police. The following holidays shall be observed by permanent part time employees in the street/water and wastewater departments, the employee must be scheduled to work the holiday in order to received holiday pay.

   (b)   Holidays shall be celebrated as set forth above, unless otherwise designated by contract or by other appropriate governmental official or body. In all cases where a holiday may be in question, the Village of East Palestine administration will designate the official holiday. In most instances, the following policies will apply:
      (1)   Holidays which fall on a Saturday shall be observed on the preceding Friday.
      (2)   Holidays which fall on a Sunday shall be observed on the following Monday.
   (c)   Full time employees shall be paid time and a half in addition to regular pay (double time and a half), for the holidays declared above on a current basis. They shall not be required to work on such holidays unless, in the opinion of the employee's supervisor, failure to work on such holidays would impair the public service.
   (d)   Part-time employees who are required to work on the actual holiday shall be compensated as set forth in Section 1.02 (j) of the employee manual.
   (e)   Fire department employees shall receive time and a half for answering calls on all holidays.
   (f)   A full-time employee who is not assigned to work on a listed holiday will receive eight hours regular pay.
   (g)   Vacations. If a legal holiday falls during an employee’s vacation, an extra day shall be credited to his or her vacation allowance.
   (h)   Sick Leave. If a holiday occurs during a period of sick leave of an employee, the employee shall draw normal pay and shall not be charged for sick leave for the holiday.
