(a) The pay period shall consist of eighty hours. The wage rates prescribed for respective employees are based upon an average work week of forty paid hours and a work year of 2,080 paid hours. The work day for all full-time employees shall be a regularly scheduled shift of eight hours of work a day and a work week of forty hours. Shift schedules, duty days and hours shall be as determined by the Village Manager or his or her designee. If shift changes are necessary, a twenty-four hour notice shall be given, except in the case of an emergency.
(b) The officers of the organization shall work forty hours per week. It is recognized that the officers must devote time outside the normal business hours for meetings, Village business and other activities. Therefore, the weekly hours may be adjusted.
(c) Standby time.
(1) EMT A- Advanced. For each twelve hour shift that an EMT A or Advanced is assigned, he shall be paid a minimum of two hours pay at the prevailing wage. If the actual hours worked exceeds the minimum standby pay, payment shall be for the actual hours worked.
(2) EMT- Paramedic. For each twelve hour shift a paramedic is assigned or actually works, he shall be paid a minimum of two hours pay at the prevailing hourly rate. If the actual hours worked exceeds the minimum standby pay, payment shall be for actual hours worked.
