6-1-4: DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS PROHIBITED; EXCEPTIONS; PENALTY:
   A.   Prohibition: It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge or shoot any loaded firearm, air gun, pistol, pellet gun, BB gun, slingshot or bow and arrow within the city limits of East Helena, subject to the exceptions delineated herein.
   B.   Exceptions: Nothing in this section shall apply to:
      1.   Any peace officer in the discharge of his duties.
      2.   Any citizen in the legitimate and urgent protection of his life or that of his family or of his property.
      3.   Any legitimate display of firearms at shows or other public occasion by collectors and others, provided such events and individuals making the discharge are approved by the city.
      4.   Any person participating in a hunter, gun or archery safety class authorized by the city.
      5.   Areas designated as indoor or outdoor firearm or archery ranges as designated and approved by the city.
   C.   Penalty: Any person convicted of a violation of any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
