6-1-1: STATE LAWS ADOPTED:
Any person committing acts in the city or within the police jurisdiction thereof, not specifically declared to be an offense by any other ordinance or provision of this code, but which are declared to be misdemeanors by any law or laws of the state shall, upon conviction thereof, suffer the same punishment as is provided by the state law but subject to the maximum sentence allowed to be decreed by city magistrates, and the prosecution of such offense so committed in the city or within the police jurisdiction thereof, may be had before the police magistrate. In pursuance thereof, there are hereby adopted by reference all such state laws defining misdemeanors, except where the subject is otherwise specifically covered by a provision of this code. Such laws shall be in force and effect as though set out at length herein. (Ord. 61, 11-5-1945; amd. 1980 Code)
