For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ALTERATION. Any change in size, shape, occupancy or use of a building or structure other than a change of use pursuant to Chapter 157 of this code of ordinances.
BOARD. The Board of Trustees of the Village of East Dundee.
BUILDING INSPECTOR. The officer or other designated authority charged with the administration and enforcement of the Building Code and ordinances of the village or his or her duly authorized representative.
CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS. A certificate from East Dundee Historic District Commission authorizing plans to construct, alter, extend, repair or remove any buildings or structure within its jurisdiction, as defined by § 153.03.
COMMISSION. The East Dundee Historic District Commission.
CONSTRUCTION. The erection, demolition, alteration, repair or renovation of any structure.
DISTRICT. The East Dundee Historic District.
MUNICIPAL CODE. The Municipal Code of the Village of East Dundee, of 1972, as amended.
REPAIR. The replacement of existing work with the same kinds of materials for the purpose of its maintenance, but not including additional work that would effect facilities or a vital element such as an elevator, plumbing, gas piping, wiring, ventilation or heating installation or any work that would be in violation of the Building Code or ordinance governing building construction of the municipal code.
STRUCTURE. Anything existing, constructed or erected, the use of which requires more or less permanent location on the ground.
USE. The purpose of activity for which the land, or building thereon is designed, arranged or intended or for which it is occupied or maintained.
VILLAGE. The Village of East Dundee, Illinois.
