For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
PARKING METER. A mechanical device located upon a public street or sidewalk in a place regularly designated as a parking zone, which device shall record a certain number of minutes by the use of a clock mechanism determining the period of time for which parking privileges may be extended to the person so depositing a coin.
ROADWAY. The portion of a street between the regularly established curb lines.
SIDEWALK. The portion of a street between the curb lines and the adjacent property lines.
STREET. Every way that is set apart for public travel, except alleyways, bridlepaths, and footpaths.
VEHICLE. Any device by which any person or property may be transported upon a public highway, except those operated upon rails and permanent tracks.
