§ 134.031 TRUANCY PROHIBITED.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person within the city who is required by law to attend school, and who is subject to the compulsory school attendance requirement set forth in I.C. 20-33-2-6 and enrolled in grades K-12 in a public, private, or parochial school, to be absent from school without good cause.
   (B)   Good cause for school absence shall include:
      (1)   Service on a precinct election board or for a political candidate or party, in compliance with I.C. 20-33-2-15:
      (2)   Service as a witness in a judicial proceeding, in compliance with I.C. 20-33-2-16;
      (3)   Active duty with the State National Guard, or a state wing of the Civil Air Patrol, in compliance with I.C. 20-33-2-17 and/or 20-33-2-17.2;
      (4)   Participation in an educationally-related non-classroom activity, in compliance with I.C. 20-33-2-17.5;
      (5)   Illness or incapacity of the minor with proper certification, in compliance with I.C. 20-33-2-18;
      (6)   Religious instruction authorized by the school principal, in compliance with I.C. 20-33-2-19; and
      (7)   Other permission or authorization from the school where the minor is enrolled, for a reason which complies with an applicable provision of or the school’s authority pursuant to the state code.
