(A) No garage sale shall be allowed from the same parcel of residential property located in the city more than four times a year. The owner or tenant of the property must pay to the City Controller the sum of an amount as set by the city from time to time for each day of the garage sale. The days of the week during which the sale may take place are restricted to Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. The hours of the sale are not early that 7:00 a.m. or later than 5:00 p.m.
(B) Persons wishing to have a garage sale must first obtain a permit from the Controller’s office upon payment of the required fees. The Controller’s office should not accept a fee and issue a garage sale permit until the applicant has been informed of the limited hours and other restrictions.
(C) Notices for garage and yard sales may not be posted on city property, such as light poles, street signs, or utility poles. Illegally placed signs may be removed and disposed of by the city. Signs may only be posted on the home property.
(D) Community, district, or block garage sales (involving more than one resident) shall pay the sum of an amount as set by the city from time to time for each day for the entire group; applicant must disclose all the residential addresses involved in the joint garage sale. Such larger group sales shall be limited to twice a year and may not exceed three days for each sale (days are restricted to Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday).
(E) Violations of this provision may be enforced by the Building Department and/or Police Department and each day constitutes a continuing offense which may be abated by any lawful measure by the city.
