There shall be a Department of Building Inspection, the head of which is the Building Official. The City Manager shall be ex-officio building official unless he or she appoints another to be Building Official. The Building Official, otherwise sometimes called the Building Inspector, is an officer of the city and has supervision of the Building Inspection Department, including the Electrical Inspector, the Plumbing Inspector, and/or any other inspectors and assistant inspectors appointed in the Department. The Building Inspection Department shall inspect buildings, plumbing, electrical installations, and other installations as may be provided by law or ordinance.
