The Mayor may appoint a reputable woman who shall be known as police matron; and such police matron shall have all the qualifications and be subject to all the provisions of chapter eighteen, of the acts of the legislature of one thousand nine hundred eleven. The Council of the City of Dunbar may provide a reasonable salary not to exceed twelve hundred ($1,200) dollars therefor, and such matron shall do all things required by the Council under the provisions of said chapter eighteen, of the acts of the legislature of one thousand nine hundred and eleven, and any amendments thereto.
