533.03 PETIT LARCENY.
   If a person commits simple larceny of goods or chattels of the value of less than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), he/she is guilty of a misdemeanor designated petit larceny, and upon conviction thereof, shall be confined in the county or regional jail for a term not to exceed thirty days or receive a fine not to exceed two-thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00), or both, in the discretion of the court.
