171.17 BONDS ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT OF FINES.
Nothing in this article shall be construed to prevent the giving and accepting as to any fine and costs, bond with good surety, approved by the Municipal Court, payable at a time not exceeding twelve months after date of such bond. If default be made in the payment of such bond, the same may proceed on to judgment and execution against both the defendant and the bondsman, as if it were a forthcoming bond. On default, the defendant may be re-arrested and committed to work out the fine and costs, as provided in this article. It is the duty of the Municipal Court to see that all such bonds are preserved and that the proper steps are taken to collect the same when due. (1978 Code Sec. 16-18)
