171.14 WORKING OF PRISONERS.
   Any person who is held in the custody of the City as prisoner to serve a sentence for a violation of any of the provisions of the Codified Ordinances or other City law, or any other offense against the City, or who is held for failure to pay a fine imposed upon him for violation of the Codified Ordinances or law of the City, shall be worked on the public streets of the City or at any other work which is beneficial to the interests of the City as a whole, and such person while being worked shall be in the custody of any person delegated by the Municipal Court or appointee of the Court to supervise the work or to have charge of the prisoners, and while being worked in payment of a fine, they shall be allowed a credit of one dollar ($1.00) on such fine for each day they are so worked.
