2-4-4: SERVICE AS MOBILE SUPPORT TEAM:
All or any members of the city ESDA organization may be designated as members of a mobile support team created by the director of the state of Illinois emergency management agency or by the governor as provided by law.
The leader of such mobile support team shall be designated by the coordinator of the city ESDA organization.
Personnel of a mobile support team who are city employees or officers, while on duty pursuant to a call to duty by the governor or state director or while engaged in regularly scheduled training exercises, whether within or without the state, shall receive the compensation and have the powers, duties, rights and immunities incidental to such employment or office. Any such member who is not a paid officer or employee of the city, while so serving, shall receive compensation from the state as provided under the act.
Personnel of a mobile support team who suffer disease, injury or death arising out of or in the course of emergency duty, shall for the purposes of benefits under the workers' compensation act or workers' occupational disease act only, be deemed to be employees of the state of Illinois.
All personnel of mobile support teams shall, while on duty under such call, be reimbursed by the state of Illinois for all actual and necessary travel and subsistence expenses, as provided in the act. (Ord. 1647, 2-18-1992; amd. Ord. 2964, 4-20-2015, eff. 5-4-2015)
