The chief of police may be removed or discharged by the city manager; provided, that removal or discharge shall not become effective unless confirmed by a majority of the city council. All other police officers may be discharged in accordance with 65 ILCS 5/10-1 et seq. and the collective bargaining agreement, as applicable. (1950 Code; amd. 2020 Code)
