The police department shall consist of a chief, who shall have supervision over the department, and such other officers and members as may be provided from time to time by the president and board of trustees. All members of the police department shall be conservators of the peace with the duties and powers assigned to such conservators by statute 1 and subject to conditions of employment and codes of conduct established by the village board of trustees.
