(A) All operators of junkyards located in the county shall, within 30 days after the effective date of this chapter, submit to the Zoning Administrator of the county (“Administrator”), an application for a junkyard operation permit, as well as a $50 application fee. The Administrator, upon request, shall provide the application. If the Administrator determines, upon inspection of the premises subject to the application, that the premises are in compliance with all applicable terms of this chapter, then the Administrator shall issue the operator a junkyard operation permit. Each junkyard operation permit shall be effective for a period of one year.
(B) No later than 90 days prior to the expiration of the junkyard operation permit, the operator shall submit a re-inspection application and $50 re-inspection fee. The Administrator shall then inspect the premises, notify the operator of any corrections that need to be made and issue the junkyard operation permit following the completion of any required corrections.
(C) This section shall not apply to licensees of the Secretary of State under Ch. 5 of the State Vehicle Code, being ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, for activities permitted by the license.
