The 2011 update of the Yavapai Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan shall be adopted to meet the requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 as follows.
(A) The Plan is hereby adopted because the Town of Dewey-Humboldt has experienced damage from natural and human-caused hazards, such as flooding, land/mudslides, severe wind, wildfire, and winter storms, possibly resulting in damage and/or loss of property and life, economic hardship and threats to public health and safety.
(B) The primary purpose of the Plan is to identify hazards that affect the town, assess the vulnerability and risk posed by those hazards to community-wide human and structural assets, developing strategies for mitigation of those identified hazards, present future maintenance procedures for the Plan, and document the planning process.
(C) The Plan recommends several hazard mitigation actions or projects that will provide mitigation for specific hazards that affect the town, in order to protect people and property from loss associated with those hazards.
(D) Upon approval of the Plan and approval from the Arizona Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the town eligible to apply for federal mitigation grant funding.
