7-10-3: COMPLIANCE CITATIONS, DELINQUENT FINES:
   A.   Pursuant to the issuance of a compliance citation, any person who is accused of a violation of certain sections of the city code, as described in section 7-2-1 of this title, except a traffic offense for which a traffic violation ticket is issued and for which a court appearance is required pursuant to the Illinois supreme court rules, may settle and compromise that compliance citation by paying to the city a fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00) within ten (10) days from the date such alleged violation was committed or by paying to the city the sum of forty dollars ($40.00) subsequent to said ten (10) day period and prior to thirty (30) days thereafter.
   B.   The issuance of compliance citations shall be as a courtesy in lieu of instituting a prosecution in court for the alleged offense. If the person accused of the violation does not settle the claim, a uniform traffic complaint or notice to appear will be issued for that violation and otherwise that person shall be subject to the general penalties set forth in this code. However, nothing herein contained shall prevent the filing of a complaint in the first instance in the circuit court of Cook County and the payment of fines and costs, which shall be established by the circuit court.
   C.   In the event that payment of a compliance citation fine has not been made and is submitted to an agency for collection, the additional costs related to collection agency services shall also be assessed. (Ord. M-80-97, 12-15-1997)
