4-4-17: POSSESSION, DRINKING IN PUBLIC PLACES:
   A.   Definitions:
   PUBLIC WAY: Any street, sidewalk, alley, highway, public thoroughfare or parking area available to the public, or any street, sidewalk, alley or parking area located on private property for which the owner(s) of said property has entered into a contract with the city for enforcement of traffic regulations pursuant to 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/11-209.
   B.   Public Drinking:
      1.   It shall be unlawful for any person to drink any alcoholic beverage on any public way or in or about any motor vehicle upon a public way in the city.
      2.   It shall be unlawful for any person to transport, carry, possess or have any alcoholic beverage in or upon any public way or in or upon or about any motor vehicle upon any public way in the city except in the original package and with the seal unbroken.
   C.   Penalties: Any person in violation of any provision of this section shall be fined as provided in the general penalty in section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. M-19-13, 10-7-2013)
