§ 9-604 ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR; OFFICE CREATED; BOND, AMOUNT, REMOVAL.
   (A)   The office of Electrical Inspector in and for the city is hereby created. The Utilities Superintendent is hereby designated as ex officio Electrical Inspector in and for said city until further order of the Council.
   (B)   No person shall serve as Electrical Inspector unless that person shall have the following minimum qualification:
      (1)   Five years on-the-job wiring experience, including conduit work and switchboard, motor and motor control wiring;
      (2)   Three years’ experience as above, plus two years’ experience in electrical construction as contractor, estimator, electrical consulting engineer or instructor; or
      (3)   Three years’ experience as Electrical Inspector, including inspection of conduit work, switchboards, motor and motor control wiring.
   (C)   The Electrical Inspector shall file with the Council a bond of a surety company to be approved by the Council, in the sum of $1,000, conditioned that he or she will indemnify and keep harmless the city from all liabilities from accident or damages arising from negligence or carelessness in the performance of his or her work, or from any inadequate work done in pursuance of his or her appointment and office, and that he or she will keep all records of his or her office, as provided herein, which shall be the property of the city and shall be filed and preserved by the Electrical Inspector in the office of the Light Department Cashier and which shall be delivered to his or her successor in office. He or she shall be removed from office for cause only after a full hearing before the Mayor and Council. It shall be unlawful for the Electrical Inspector, except as Light Commissioner he or she shall install electric wiring and devices as agent for the city, to engage in the business of the installation and maintenance of electric wiring, electric devices and electrical materials, either directly or indirectly, and he or she shall have no financial interest in any concern engaged in such business in the city at any time while holding the office of Electrical Inspector. Any violation of the provisions of this section by said Electrical Inspector shall be removed for other just cause. The Electrical Inspector shall possess a certificate of qualification attesting to his or her competency to enforce the provisions of this article. This certificate shall be issued by the municipality upon a showing of the applicant that he or she possesses the necessary qualifications prescribed herein.
