For the purpose of this chapter the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
(a) “All purpose vehicle” means any self-propelled vehicle designed primarily for cross-country travel on land and water, or on more than one type of terrain, and steered by wheels or caterpillar treads, or any combination thereof, including vehicles that operate on a cushion of air, vehicles commonly known as all-terrain vehicles, all season vehicles, mini-bikes, and trail bikes.
(b) “Snowmobile” means any self-propelled vehicle designed primarily for use on snow or ice, and steered by skis, runners, or caterpillar treads.

(a) No person or persons shall operate a snowmobile or all-purpose vehicle on the municipally-owned lands of the Village waterworks system or on the public highways, streets, sidewalks, and other public property in the Village. (Ord. 1450. Passed 4-15-85.)
(b) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to one predicate motor vehicle or traffic offense, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of two or more predicate motor vehicle or traffic offenses, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
