905.06 AWNINGS; PERMIT REQUIRED.
   (a)    No person shall erect, construct or maintain any awning which projects into a street. No person shall hereafter erect, construct or maintain any awning over or above a sidewalk within the City without obtaining a permit from the City Engineer. Applications for permits will be available at the office of the City Engineer. The City Engineer shall issue permits if the awning meets the following requirements:
(1)    It is designed of suitable materials and will be installed to prevent collapse under normal wear.
(2)    If posts are to be placed in the sidewalk, a minimum width of seven feet from the facade to the structure adjacent to the post shall be required.
(3)    The lowest part of the awning or any attachment thereto will be a minimum of eight feet above the sidewalk.
   (b)    The City Engineer may require appropriate assurance that these conditions will be met before issuing a permit.
