(a) The City Engineer is hereby directed to post signs on all State routes within the City where a viaduct, overpass or other overhead obstruction provides a vertical clearance from the pavement surface to its lowest horizontal surface of less than fourteen feet, and to designate alternate truck routes for large trucks traveling through the City on these highways. The City Engineer is directed to make maximum use of Deatrick, Downs and State Route 424 as alternate truck routes.
(b) The signs, which shall be designed according to State law and which shall be traffic control devices, shall be placed along the affected State route so as to be highly visible. They shall state that a truck whose vertical height is greater than the height specified on the sign shall be required to follow the designated alternate truck route. The posted height limit shall be calculated by deducting six inches from the maximum clearance posted on the nearest viaduct, overhang or overhead obstruction. No person shall fail to comply with such signs.
(c) Failure to comply with the requirements of this section shall be treated as a violation of Section 313.01.
