Smoke detectors shall be installed in accordance with the National Fire Code #14. Smoke detectors shall be installed at or near the ceiling, but not closer than four inches from the wall or ceiling. Smoke detectors shall be installed in the following locations:
(a) Smoke detectors shall be installed outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms.
(b) In all halls or corridors of which serve as access to individual living units.
(c) In buildings having basements or cellars, additional smoke detectors shall be installed in the basement or cellar in a location approved by the Fire Official.
(d) In buildings having furnace rooms and/or storage rooms which are not provided with an approved automatic sprinkler system, smoke detectors shall be installed in a location as approved by the Fire Official.
