The intersections described below are designated as alley intersections. When appropriate signs conforming to the requirements of this traffic code are erected at the entrance to such intersections, the operator of a vehicle traveling on an alley and approaching any such intersection, where a sign has been erected at the entrance of such an intersection, shall bring such vehicle to a full and complete stop before entering the intersection, except when directed by a police officer to do otherwise.
