§ 71.05 SPEED LIMITS.
   (A)   General speed limit. It shall be unlawful to drive on any public street or thoroughfare of the city at a faster rate of speed than 25 mph, except on those streets where a different speed limit has been posted.
   (B)   School zones.
      (1)   There is hereby established a school zone, which shall extend one block in all directions from each public school building of the Dawson Springs Independent School System. No motor vehicle shall travel at a rate of speed greater than 15 mph in any school zone during any time in which the 15 mph speed limit has been posted.
      (2)   The Police Department shall place school zone signs which indicate a 15 mph speed limit in conspicuous places during all times when children are coming to school, leaving school or at any other time when it is in the best interest of the school system to have the signs in place.
   (C)   Penalty. Whoever violates the provisions of this section shall be subject to the fine schedule set forth in KRS 189.394.

§ 71.20 DUTY OF OPERATOR.
   It shall be the duty of the owner of, operator of or passenger in any motor vehicle which is involved in an accident in which any person is injured or property damaged to stop immediately and ascertain the extent of the injury or damage and render such assistance as may be needed.

§ 71.21 ACCIDENT REPORT.
   The operator, owner or passenger involved in an accident resulting in the injury or death of any person, or an accident in which property is damaged, shall immediately report the accident or property damage to the Police Department.
