1-2-8: NOTICE REQUIREMENTS:
Whenever any provision of this code requires notice to be given to any person, the notice shall be in writing. Unless personal, published, posted or some other method of notice in required, notice may be given by regular or certified mail at the person's last known address, by delivery to the person personally, by leaving the notice for the person at the person's usual place of abode with a person of suitable age and discretion then residing there, or by any method of service sufficient for service of process in a civil suit. Published or posted notice may be given where permitted by law, charter, or this code, and shall be given when required. Failure to give notice or defects in the notice shall not invalidate the proceeding for which notice was required if a good faith effort was made to give the notice required, if due to special circumstances the notice could not be given, if the person not receiving notice or receiving defective notice was not prejudiced thereby or if the person received actual notice in some other manner.
