12-1-1: DEFINITIONS:
As used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section:
COMPREHENSIVE MUNICIPAL PLAN: The thoroughfare plan, land use plan, and such other plans, maps and statements of policy for development of the city as may be in effect from time to time.
EASEMENTS: A right to use property without obstruction for certain specified purposes.
PLAT: A map or maps approved or to be approved by the city council containing pertinent survey data and showing a tract of land divided into units identified as lots and blocks.
STREETS AND ALLEYS: A way for vehicular traffic, whether designated as a street, highway, thoroughfare, parkway, throughway, road, avenue, boulevard, lane, place, drive or however otherwise designated.
SUBDIVISION: A tract of land which has been or is being platted.
SUBDIVISION OR SUBDIVIDE: The division of a parcel of land into two (2) or more lots or parcels for the purpose of transfer of ownership or building development or, if a new street is involved, any division of a parcel of land; provided, that a division of the land for agricultural purposes into lots or parcels of five (5) acres or more and not involving a new street shall not be deemed a subdivision. The term includes resubdivision and, when appropriate to the context, shall relate to the process of subdividing or to the process of resubdividing or to the land subdivided.
ZONING ORDINANCE: The zoning ordinance of the city. (Ord. 217, 3-2-1992)
