Application for a building permit shall be made by the owner of the premises on which the building is to be erected, altered or placed, and shall state the legal description of the premises so to be improved, the type of construction, the approximate outside dimensions of the building or alteration, the location on the premises including distances from the respective boundaries of the premises, the proposed use of the structure, and the name of the person or firm, if any, employed to construct or place the improvement on the premises.
