As used in this title, the following words and terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section:
ACT: The federal water pollution control act also known as the clean water act, as amended, 33 USC 125 et seq.
BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (BOD5): The quantity of oxygen utilized in the biochemical oxidation of organic matter under standard laboratory procedure in five (5) days at twenty degrees centigrade (20°C) expressed in terms of weight and concentration (milligrams per liter, mg/l).
CITY: The city of Dawson or the city council of Dawson.
DIRECTOR/SUPERINTENDENT: The director/superintendent of wastewater disposal system/of water pollution control/of public works of the city or its authorized representative.
EPA: Environmental protection agency.
INDUSTRIAL USER: A person who discharges wastewater disposal system liquid wastes resulting from the processes employed in industrial, manufacturing, trade, or business establishments or from the development of any natural resource.
NPDES PERMIT: National pollutant discharge elimination systems permit regulates the discharge of sewage, industrial wastes or other waste.
PRIVATE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM: A system owned and operated by a person for collection and delivery of piped water for human consumption into commercial, industrial, or residential buildings or structures.
USER: Any person who discharges, causes or permits the discharge of wastewater into the city's wastewater disposal system. (Ord. 198, 2-3-1987; amd. Ord. 261, 3-21-2006)
