1-4-1: GENERAL PENALTY:
   A.   Petty Misdemeanors: Whenever an act or omission is declared by this code, or by any law or code adopted by reference in this code, to be a petty misdemeanor or a petty offense, any person violating the provision shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not more than three hundred dollars ($300.00).
   B.   Misdemeanors And Penalty For Other Offenses: Except when declared to be a petty misdemeanor or a petty offense, or except when another lesser penalty is expressly provided, any person violating any provision of this code, or any law or code adopted by reference in this code, shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment.    C.   Administrative Offenses: Any person violating an administrative rule, or any offense that would otherwise be a misdemeanor or petty misdemeanor for which the city has established a scheduled penalty, shall be subject to the scheduled penalty not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for each offense. The determination as to whether to treat an offense as an administrative offense, petty misdemeanor or misdemeanor shall be up to the discretion of the complainant. (Ord. 274, 12-2-2008)
