No person shall aim, or threaten to fire or discharge, any rifle, pistol, shotgun or other firearm, any air or gas rifle or pistol, and slingshot, any bow and arrow or any other weapon or device for the propelling of missiles or pellets which are capable of harming persons or property, whether loaded or not, at any human being or at the property of another. These prohibitions shall not apply:
A. Target Or Shooting Range: To aiming or firing or discharging at a target located or thrown for such purpose when lawfully at an established target or shooting range and exercising due regard for the rights and safety of others and their property; or
B. Protection Of Person Or Property: When the aiming, firing or discharging is reasonably necessary in the defense of one's person or property or that of others. (1982 Code § 8.231)
